Broil King Imperial XLS – Stainless Steel
The Broil King Imperial XLS is the biggest model in their top of the line Imperial Series. These premium category grills are packed with useful extras offering quality plus bells and whistles for a reasonable price. XLS features two completely separate cook boxes that may be used independently or together for small or large gatherings.
The XLS has heavy cast stainless steel grates. The grill heads are… 430 stainless steel with cast aluminum hood end caps. An identical model called the Imperial XL is available in black powder coated steel with a stainless control panel. The Weber Summit is a definite splurge with its sky-high price point, but it comes stocked with lots of high end features. With six burners, it can handle a whopping 28 burgers at a time, plus there’s a high power sear burner, side burner, rotisserie, smoker box, lighted control knobs, and a built-in gas level indicator gauge.
In our testing, we observed minimal… smoking and flare-ups, and the Summit did a decent job grilling steak (though it was only average at grilling chicken).
An added bonus: the grill comes mostly assembled, making it incredibly easy to put together. At five times the cost of many of our favorite inexpensive grills, the Summit may not be our overall recommendation, but it’s a great choice for those willing to spend extra for plenty of bells and whistles.
