Sometimes you just don’t have space for a big grill. Whether you live in an apartment, condo, on a boat or just don’t have a big patio, it doesn’t mean that you can’t enjoy a good cookout. Try one of these smaller grills, gas, charcoal or electric to give you real grilling flavor and fun. Remember to check with the local rules where you live to know what kind of grill you can have. Most apartments don’t allow gas or charcoal grills. This list contains a wide range of types and prices.
Smoke Hollow 205 Stainless Steel TableTop Propane Gas Grill
With stainless steel as the main component of this grill, the Smoke Hollow 205 won’t rust out. Features include a double-wall lid, high temperatures of over 500°F, easy-to-clean design, and an affordable price tag.
The Smoke Hollow 205 is very portable and is easy to… tuck away in your RV’s storage. It’s perfect for quickly grilling up easy meals like hamburgers and hotdogs, but don’t expect much more.
The trickiest part of putting it together is trying to balance the handle while setting the screws from the inside of the grill hood. I found that it’s manageable if you can flip the grill upside down and hang it off of a table or counter.
Cuisinart CGG-180T Petit Gourmet Portable
The Cuisinart Petit Gourmet is designed, first and foremost, to be portable. That is what would be expected of a portable gas grill, but where others add weight for power, this model seems to sacrifice most everything for the size.
The simple box shape fits the 145 square inch cooking surface with… as small and as light a body as possible. Consider that three of the 13 pound that this grill weighs is the porcelain coated cast iron cooking grate.
Aside from the low heat output, this isn’t a bad little grill and for the person who wants to carry a grill in one hand and all the food for a picnic in the other, this is a pretty good choice. Don’t expect high performance, but it is certainly powerful enough and good enough to grill up some hamburgers or hotdogs at the park.
Char-Broil TRU-Infrared Portable Grill2Go Gas Grill
There is a lot to like with this portable gas grill, particularly the construction. For a little grill this is well built of mostly cast aluminum. The lid locks tightly in place and the legs and handles are sturdy. Typically portable grills are not as powerful as their full-sized cousins, but this little wonder is very powerful.
The problem is that … is is actually too powerful and thanks to its infrared technology, there is no way to dial it down for slower grilling without the risk of the burner blowing out. Add to this some extra maintenance needs and flare-ups issues and you have a a portable grill that fails to live up to its promises.
The trouble begins with the cooking performance. This grill has limited temperature adjustment and runs very hot, even on low. This causes many people trouble with using this grill. Apart from the limitation of design, there is the typical quality control issues that Char-Broil so frequently suffers from.
Weber 51010001 Q1200 Liquid Propane Grill
The 51010001 measures 40.9 inches in length, by 26.6 inches of width sands 24.6 inches tall. The weight is 13kg, which means this is one of Webers lightest grills available. I have no complaints about these numbers, considering it’s made out of cast-aluminium, so it would also be durable. The overall design too, is pretty sleek and consists of the cooking unit, complete with lid, and foldout shelves, with an expensive looking black finish.
The first issue with any grill is the assembly,… but in this case it was a non-issue, as the Q1200 comes completely assembled. Having been overjoyed by the non-assembly, I moved onto cooking and found a slight problem buyers should be aware of. Whether it’s a problem or not, actually depends on what you want in a grill. The propane safety valve, installed to protect against propane fires is very sensitive, so if you pour propane too quickly into the tank, or fill too high, it will fail to heat up to cooking temperature.
Many people will like this, as propane fires are a leading cause of injury sustained during camping trips, and in any outdoor cooking. So, lots of buyers might take the view that its better to be overly safe, than not safe enough, especially where children may be involved. The problem comes from the fact that this information is not contained in the manual or on the box. As long as you don’t overfill, or pour too quickly, you’ll never have this problem, and it’s a great grill that cooks amazing food. But, if the safety mechanism does start, and the grill fails to heat, just shut it down, disconnect the hose, and then reconnect and you’re back to amazing cooking.

Royal Gourmet PD1300 Portable 3-Burner
The grid is well designed, cheap and made with high quality materials! When the lattice came at my door, I was surprised at the size of the box! It was bigger than expected! It is one thing to read on-line measurements and another to see it personally. The grid is not too big to make a movement problem, but not too small, you can not cook several items at once.
The top of the grid has a porcelain enamel coating which forms… a separating surface. I was worried that the surface did not support time and is easily scratched, but I was totally wrong! I read a review where the person had used plastic dishes on the plate due to the coating, and I was afraid that I had to spend more money on equipment just for this, but n was not the case.
I have not had any problems with the length, but I could see that this is a problem (some can be easily solved by buying a propane hose extension). 2. The ability to propane 1 lb. Boxes to use as a backup when the 20-lb tank runs dry (you can solve this problem by purchasing a propane adapter 1 lb). 3. The ability to level the plate (This is a common complaint that I have about all the frying pans that I have not just one). All in all, I am very satisfied with my purchase and I highly recommend this product.
Coleman Fold N Go Portable Grill
Getting packed for car camping just got a whole lot easier. Forget about the Smokey Joe, briquettes, and lighter fluid. Skip the griddle for your morning pancakes. And give that heavy old two-burner a rest. This ultraversatile, all-in-one propane stove can handle every task and recipe thanks to interchangeable cooking surfaces.
The nonstick griddle banged out a huge stack… of chocolate-chip pancakes in a few minutes. The one-burner stove is compact (about 16 x 15 x 7 inches), but the cooking surface was big enough to handle the grub for two families of four on a long weekend in New Hampshire’s White Mountains.
